During the 19th century silver tea sets became a must have for any fashionable family in Britain. 18th century sets are much rarer due to the expense of buying all the pieces together, and the scarcity of tea, coffee and sugar. Designs of tea sets changed as fashions did, from ornate, to arts and crafts, to modernist styles, but all are equally popular today.
