The candelabra carry a date plaque for publishing of April 1855, and are also each engraved with the coat of arms and motto of the The Royal Army Medical Corps. Each candelabrum measures 27"(69cm) tall, by 16.75"(42.5cm) wide and deep.
The motto reads 'In Arduis Fidelis', which translates as 'Faithful in Adversity'. The Royal Army Medical Corps was formed after the restoration of Charles II in 1660.

The coat of arms is that of Lord Edward Heneage, 1st Baron Heneage.
William Bateman & Daniel Ball entered their mark in partnership in December 1839, and the partnership was dissolved in 1843. Examples of their work can be found in the Royal Collection.
