Although first made in the 17th Century, sterling silver candelabra rose to prominence during the 18th Century and provided both light and decoration to the table. The earliest candelabra were two lights, a progression from the singular light of a candlestick, and since then further candle holders have been added and sizes have increased. As fashions changed so did design, from the restrained Neoclassical, to ornate and large Victorian examples, to very stylish Art Deco and Modernist forms. Still desirable today, a pair of silver candelabra can add beauty to any table.
