Hallmarked in London in 1752 by Paul Crespin, this very fine and rare example of a George II period, Antique Sterling Silver Shaving Jug, is plain in design, with a flattened baluster shape, a hinged lid and a hinged cover to the spout. The shaving jug measures 7.5"(19cm) tall, by 6"(15cm) wide, by 3"(7.5cm) deep, and weighs 15.1 troy ounces. Shaving jugs from this period are rare, and often would have been part of a set with a soap box and shaving basin.
